The proposed merger of Sunbeach
and Cariaccess is designed to build on the best that both
companies have to offer. The proposed merger would increase
value to the customer, offer more convenient places to meet
and do business with the company and increase network speed
and efficiency, which are all immediate goals of the Management
Team.
It is not anticipated that there will
be any staff layoffs as a result of this merger and all email
and domain names are safe and will continue on as usual.
Both the Sunbeach and Cariaccess brands are considered strong
brands
and so both will be kept in the fore.
In the Eastern Caribbean, the proposed
merger includes both Cariaccess St Lucia and Cariaccess St
Vincent, where Cariaccess is already offering a range of
PBX and other phone systems and plans on expanding that into
Intranet,
Internet and long distance services.
It is proposed that Anthony Gunn, who
is Cariaccess' Managing Director, would join the Sunbeach
Management Team and will also head up the OECS offices.
Sunbeach is currently responding to the
just-released RFP for the provision of cellular service in
Barbados. The cellular network proposed by Sunbeach will offer
the very best GSM service and Internet access on its handsets
along with the ability to email, shop and send pictures and
other files back and forth whilst on the go.
”I am very excited about Sunbeach’s
plans to offer cellular service in Barbados and look forward
to an opportunity to work along with them in this venture”
says Anthony Gunn, Managing Director of Cariaccess.
Sunbeach has started the process of due
diligence and hopes to present their proposal to their shareholders
in the near future.
